Our Team

Underwood Gartland's principals are M. Shannon Underwood, a former real estate transactional attorney and David J. Gartland, a professional engineer with a Master's of Science in Taxation. David and Shannon have been developing and managing commercial real estate for over 30 years. Sean J. Underwood has a degree from the University of Washington Foster School of Business and from the University of Washington's Masters program in Real Estate. Sean focuses on land acquisition of new property for future industrial development.

The principals directly perform or supervise every aspect of the development process from the genesis of a development to the stabilization of the completed project. Services provided include feasibility studies, budget analysis, market analysis, arrangement of construction financing, civil, structural, and architectural plan review, project permitting, legal, title, and tax work, construction management, budget and project management, permanent financing and leasing management.

All three partners are active members of NAIOP, the Commercial Development Association.  Shannon is a past President of the 1,000+ Washington State NAIOP chapter and a past member of its National Board of Directors. Sean chairs the developing leaders committee and runs the NAIOP mentorship program. Shannon is a past Chair to the Advisory Board for University of Washington Runstad Center for Real Estate Studies and is a past Commodore of Meydenbauer Bay Yacht Club. She also served on the Board at Forest Ridge School of the Sacred Heart.
